Intro
Edges is all about taking pictures of the edges of things. Everything has an edge so you can take a picture of everything that you see, but it's the way you compose the edges and the colour of the object that the edge belongs to that makes the pictures special and unique.
Edges photos
This task was actually quite easy, mainly because there are literally thousands of edges around the school. The hard part of the task was finding the right edges because even though there are a lot of edges around the school, you have to be creative to find edges that look good and have a good background. Even though the background is meant to be out of focus is should still have some interesting things in it so that it still looks quite good.
Best 6 photos
I chose these as my top six photos because most of them are interesting. Out of these six my favourite one is the one of the mirror where it also has the reflection of a person. This is my favourite because the angle makes it look like the person is taking the photo even though he isn't. Another really good photo out of these six is the one of the three lines with the grass as the background. I like this photo because it has a lot of edges with a really nice, out of focus background.
Dolores Marat
I chose to evaluate this image because of how interesting it is. The thing I find most interesting about this picture is the way the horse is in an everyday place. You wouldn't normally expect to see a horse outside a building, you would expect to see it in a stable or a field. I also like how the the colour of the horse and the building are almost opposite colours because the horse is bright and the building is dark. The position of the cross is interesting as well because it's not perfectly centred.

I chose these photos because I find it really interesting how simple the photos are but how good they look. The plain colours and the absurd shapes are the best part about it because on most of them there isn't really any order to the the layout of the shapes. Most of the photos only use black, white and the primary colours; I like photos like this because they can be really effective by the way they are so simple. These images relate to edges because most all of them are made up of straight edges such as the yellow cross and the black and white zig-zag pattern. My favourite thing about these photos is that they are all architecture meaning that they are all building and things like that. The composition is also interesting because the only thing in the photo is the building itself with no background just the subject on its own.

Evaluation
For this task we had to take pictures based on the artist we did research on and then edit them to make them look different. This was quite difficult because in school there is much architectural stuff so I had to take pictures of things that are in the same sort of style like geometric shapes and simple colours. The editing made the pictures look quite different because most of them are very warm or very cold colours such as blue or an orangey-yellow sort of colour. I prefer the pictures with the blue tint because it makes it look like they glow or if they have a UV light shining on it.

For this task we had to take photos inspired by Dolores Marat and then edit some of them. At first it felt quite hard to get the photos in the same style as Dolores Marat but after a while it got much easier because it is really simple. She does a lot of photos outside, most of the subjects are centred and she makes them quite dark and slightly gothic. In the edits Dolores Marat uses a lot of vignette and and faded edges to give it a centred and slightly out of focus look. Most of the photos came out the way I wanted; like Dolores Marat, however, there is a couple that aren't in the same style as Dolores Marat but they still look good.
Homework
Lesson plan / Final Piece
- Take photos inspired by Joe McNally.
- Check to see if there is any way of improving the photos.
- Edit the photos in the same sort of style that Cole Bennett edits his music video (Psychedelic style).
- Upload and evaluate the photos.

In this task we had to plan our own lesson. Once we planned our lessons we had to complete whatever task we made for ourselves, for our final piece. In my lesson I chose to take pictures like a photographer called Joe McNally and edit them like an editor called Cole Bennett. Joe McNally isn't known for doing edges but I liked his style so I chose to use it but fit edges into the photos I took. I chose to use Cole Bennett's editing style because it's bright and sort of psychedelic and that's why I like it. Cole Bennett isn't actually a photographer but more of a videographer, however, I managed to implement his style into my photos. The parts of the photo I chose to edit were the edges so that they stand out more than the rest of the photo. The photos that I like the most out of all of them is the ones where the edged and editing are more subtle so that they stand out but its not in your face. I didn't edit all the photos because some of the edits didn't turn out great or they just wasn't that great for editing. The task wasn't that hard it just took a while to take and choose the right photos and editing them in the way I wanted. The longest part was definitely the editing because I had to carefully select the area that I wanted to edit and if I messed up, even just a tiny bit, I would have to restart the whole selection. A lot of the edges of the pictures wouldn't be obvious without them being highlighted by the vibrant colours from the editing. In Joe McNally's photos the subject isn't always centred so in my pictures I made sure that in at least a few of my pictures the subject wasn't perfectly centred in all the photos.
